What are 3A technologies?
The three A's in this case stand for:
All three of these use an additive process to produce the output, that is, material is added to the part, rather than material removed from a block to produce the part.
The advantages of an additive process are:
- Complex internal cavities/structures are possible.
- Minimal waste material - especially important with expensive materials.
- Undercuts, clip features and complex geometries are as easily produced as regular features.
- Some processes allow construction of assemblies.
These features allow the designer to explore concepts that were impossible or impractical to undertake using other production methods. This freedom to innovate and explore will allow the creation of new, innovative, novel and exciting products.
